January 9 2004--It's true, that the growth of online auction sites on the web is nearing epidemic proportions. There does however seem to be a ‘maximum threshold' or saturation point of online auction sites that the web can effectively sustain. Visiting several of the smaller auction sites, by smaller less then 500 unique visitors per day, one gets the impression that they are mostly dead sites. And a re-visit a few weeks later to these identical auction sites one discovers that they are either gone or completely stagnate like a dried up pond having few or no items up for auction and few registrations.

The auction sites that stick in there and fight for positioning, i.e. search engine placement, link popularity, web traffic popularity, and registered members may develop into a ‘fledgling' online auction underdog. All but ‘one' of the online auction sites I've visited, and I have looked closely at several dozens online auction sites, offer something fresh and unique.
